What We Do
Creating opportunities for young people to take part, develop, lead, compete and progress through sport.
School Sport & Physical Education
HSDT works with schools across Haringey to support high-quality Physical Education, School Sport and Physical Activity. The Trust employs and manages School Games Organisers, provides a wide programme of competitions for borough schools and supports professional development for teachers and other educators.
Our aim is to give every child the opportunity to take part, develop confidence and skills, and find pathways into community sports clubs and further sporting opportunities.
London Youth Games
The Trust coordinates and develops Haringey's participation in the London Youth Games, giving talented and committed young people the opportunity to represent their borough across a wide range of sports.
From Haringey being outside the top twenty London boroughs before the Trust began its work, the programme has developed into one of the borough's major sporting success stories.
Young Ambassadors, Leadership & Volunteering
Our Young Ambassadors and Sports Makers programmes help young people develop leadership and coaching skills, gain qualifications and take up volunteering opportunities linked to School Sport and London Youth Games sports.
These experiences build confidence and life skills and can provide pathways towards part-time and full-time employment.
Holiday & Community Sport
HSDT provides popular holiday sports camps and community programmes that give children and young people additional opportunities to be active outside school.
Programmes connect with the Trust's work in schools and include basketball and other activities delivered in community settings across the borough.
Participation to Performance
We want young people to be able to enter sport at the level that is right for them and then progress as far as their ability and ambition can take them — from first participation and regular activity through club sport, borough representation and higher levels of performance.
Working in Partnership
Much of HSDT's work is achieved through partnership. We work with schools, sports clubs, community organisations, Haringey Council and local and national agencies to extend opportunities, increase participation and help young people lead active lives.
